What is Perianesthesia?

Every year, the first week of February is reserved to celebrate and bring awareness to the important jobs done by Perianesthesia nurses. This year it was celebrated from February 3rd through the 9th.

So…what is it that Perianesthesia nurses do?

Perianesthesia is the care you receive before and after a medical procedure. So to put it in easy terms, perianesthesia nurses are the ones who care for patients before, during and after situations that involve anesthesia.

Before your procedure, these are the nurses who evaluate your tolerance for anesthesia and help answer any questions you as the patient have. Then, after your procedure is complete, they monitor you as you wake up, help you manage pain, and ensure that you are able to move safely, have transportation home and understand any post-operation care needs.

Without these nurses, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do, and offer you the best ambulatory surgery care in the state! So, even though Perianesthesia Nurses Week has passed, we love celebrating our nurses every day!

Want to join our nurses in the best team around? We are always looking for new people to join us in our mission to provide exceptional care, one experience at a time. See our openings below!
