Raising Awareness for Prostate Cancer

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and generate support for those affected. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer diagnosed in men, and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men, after lung cancer, according to the American Association for Cancer Research.

In the United States, about 11 percent of men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point during their lifetimes. Oftentimes prostate cancer will show no early symptoms, which is why it’s important to get regular screenings. This preventative measure can help find the disease before it spreads, leading to higher survival rates.
